Things to See & Do

In and around Salem are all of the really Oregon things visitors are coming for:  scenic hikes and waterfalls you can walk behind; farm stands and markets bursting with fresh produce; stunning display gardens; colorful history and culturefarm-to-table dining and artisan crafted goods.

And of course, there’s the wine… Oregon’s Willamette Valley was named the 2016 Wine Region of the Year by Wine Enthusiast Magazine – and Salem sits in the heart of it, surrounded by dozens of award-winning wineries with stunning views and welcoming tasting rooms. Be sure to request an official Salem Area Visitors Guide to help you make the most of your Mid-Willamette Valley visit!

Itineraries

Whether racing solo or making it a family trip, Salem has enchanting experiences for everyone. You can visit Downtown Salem and see the State Capitol, take a short detour to our local wine country, visit one of Oregon’s most famous waterfalls in East Marion County, switch out the bike trails for the Great Oaks Food Trail, or find downtime in our hidden gardens.
